María Dolores Dávalos
Associate · Intellectual Property
Intellectual property and corporate law. She represents foreign companies in Ecuador and manages trademarks across the Andean Community.
mdavalos (arroba) royerabogados.comMaría Dolores’ practice centers on intellectual property and corporate law. Her specialty is trademark law across the Andean Community, where registering a distinctive sign does not end at the grant: it continues in the renewals, the watch on third-party applications, and the oppositions that are either won within the deadline or not won at all.
She is attorney-in-fact and representative in Ecuador for foreign individuals and companies — a role that requires understanding the local filing and, at the same time, the expectations of a parent company that reports in another language and on another calendar.
Her public-sector track record includes legal counsel to the Deposit Guarantee Agency and to banks under resolution, and the acting Deputy Metropolitan Attorney’s office of Quito, as well as advising the Metropolitan Attorney. She has taught courses and given talks on copyright, patents and trademarks for business owners, artists and cultural managers.
